Rock Climbing and Scrambling

Moving fluidly over rock is hugely satisfying and is a fundamental part of becoming an all-round climber and mountaineer. Expedition and Alpine climbing benefit from familiarity with the rock-climbing environment, allowing for more efficiency when covering exposed rocky terrain.

By combining the skills required for both snow and ice climbing and rock climbing, you open up a vast world of possibilities in the mountain arena.

Jagged Globe offer rock climbing and scrambling courses of progressive difficulty. Our Rock Introduction Weekend provides a foundation in the skills of rock climbing. Scrambling (weekend, week and Bank Holiday courses) is designed for walkers and winter mountaineers who would like to tackle more difficult rock terrain, with a view to climbing in the Alps or on bigger peaks where mixed ground is likely to be encountered. Classic Rock is based on the coffee table book of the same name (new edition out in 2007) and is available as either a weekend, week or Bank Holiday course.

The courses are based in Snowdonia National Park, North Wales. We have access to a wealth of climbs and scrambles, from multi-pitch adventures in dramatic mountain settings to single pitch routes by the seaside.

All our courses are taught by professionally qualified guides and instructors who have an intimate knowledge of the areas and climbs. Many of them are also familiar faces on Jagged Globe Scottish Winter Courses, Alpine Courses and Expeditions, and can advise you about your future climbing and mountaineering.

Private Guiding

We regularly organise private guiding on a 1:1 or 1:2 basis with one of our instructors or guides. This is particularly useful is you have been advised to work on rope techniques in order to join a specific expedition. Alternatively, you may have certain climbs in mind that you have always wanted to do, or you would like to work on certain areas of your climbing, such as leading. Please contact us for prices, which include accommodation and instruction. Private guiding is available all year round.
