Alpine Ice - Chamonix/Cogne 18 Jan - 1 place (5th Jan)
It's been bloomin freezing in the Alps, as well as here in the UK. We have another team of climbers in La Grave this week, ice climbing with Andy Owen, Jim Blyth and Rick Marchant. We now have just 1 place remaining on our Chamonix/Cogne 18 January course. Conditions in Cogne at the moment are looking pretty good, with the ice around Chamonix also reported to be in great shape. So get in touch if you would like to join us for some steep ice, or a more mellow angle - at a guiding ratio of 1:2 we can accommodate all abilities! [read more about Alpine Ice - Chamonix/Cogne]
Vinson summit photo (5th Jan)
After a record-breaking delay following their summit of Vinson on 15 December, the team have now made their way home. They arrived back in Punta Arenas on 27 December, having been delayed on the ice for 10 days. The summit photo shows Tore Sunde-Rasmussen holding up 7 fingers, having completed his 7 Summits with this ascent! [read more about Vinson]

High for Christmas on Aconcagua (31st Dec)
Our first Aconcagua trip of the season enjoyed "perfect" weather to reach the summit on Christmas Eve. Here´s a picture of them at the top. In the photo are (left to right) John Armstrong (leader -front), Simon, Lukas (local guide), James, Tony, Roland and Julie.
Well done to them from everyone here, on a superb effort to finish the year on an extremely high note. [read more about Aconcagua]

La Grave ice report (22nd Dec)
We had a full team of climbers in La Grave last week, for our first Ice climbing course of the season. Kerry from the Jagged Globe office joined the group in Bourg D'Oisans at our base there. During the week, most climbing was done in La Grave itself, with a trip up to Alpe d'Huez. The climbing was limited somewhat by the dangerous avalanche conditions, but the ice itself was superb - fat and in abundance! Icefalls climbed included Caturgeas (WI3), Symphonie d'automne (WI4), Supercramp Direct (WI4) and La Fete a la Grenuille (WI5) (see photo left). Our next La Grave course begins on 4 January - there are still places available if you're keen! [read more about Alpine Ice - La Grave]

Dhaulagiri Circuit update and photos (19th Dec)
Jagged Globe leader, Mungo "Khumbu" Ross has returned from his recce of the Dhaulagiri Circuit, which he thinks is fantastic for those who have previous trekking experience. Mungo crossed the French Col and climbed Dhampus Peak (6,060m) from the Hidden Valley. We've uploaded 32 images of Mungo's from the trek, as well as a short report. The trek will be 2 days shorter than published in our 2009-10 brochure (now 21 days from the UK), as we can save two days by driving to Darbang, rather than trekking along what is now a dusty road. The itinerary have been completely re-written with first-hand detail from Mungo. Mungo will be leading the 2009 Dhaulagiri Circuit... [read more]
